Reflecting on that period, the filmmaker shared a note on social media, stating, “As the new year comes to a close, I take a moment to look back. The year 2023 was transformative for me. It began with a sense of nervousness and anxiety. My film, PATHAAN, was released amid a wave of opposition. A peculiar phenomenon known as ‘Boycott Bollywood’ dominated the narrative. Hindi films were dismissed by skeptics. And then came the day, January 25.

I remember waking up at 7 am after a night that ended at 3:30 am post the cast and crew screening. Waking up felt surreal. The first show had just begun. Mamta and I decided to visit our friend Jayu’s place and await public reviews. As we sat on his terrace, the reviews started pouring in.

Unanimously, it was declared a BLOCKBUSTER. Unable to remain seated any longer, I made the decision to visit a theater and witness the reactions firsthand.

Upon arriving at the theater, I, for the first time, refrained from watching the entire film with the audience. I observed the first 30 minutes, gaining a sense of the audience’s reactions. It was a distinct experience. Subsequently, videos began pouring in – people dancing in theaters to the beats of “Jhoome Jo Pathaan.” A historic moment unfolded. Pathaan cemented its status as a TIME BLOCKBUSTER IN 2023.

He shed light on the commencement of their work on Fighter and remarked, “Something else significant happened in 2023. Mamta and I launched our film company, MARFLIX, with #FIGHTER. It’s a film that is ambitious in various ways. It holds more significance for us than just being a film. We’ve given our all to this project.”

Main Suspect Nabbed in Karni Sena Chief’s Murder After 31 Raids

Ashok Meghwal, the primary suspect in the brutal killing of Karni Sena leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi at his Jaipur residence last month, has been taken into custody. A total of nine individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

The arrest follows 10 hours of extensive raids by three teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a village near Pilani, Rajasthan. The NIA conducted raids at 31 locations in Rajasthan and Haryana as part of their thorough investigation.

During the operation, officials confiscated eight illicit weapons from Ashok Meghwal. Further questioning of Meghwal uncovered details about the delivery of an additional 22 weapons. Meghwal was allegedly in contact with gangster Rohit Godara, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who had claimed responsibility for the murder.

On December 5, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, a prominent Rajput leader, was enjoying tea with four men at his Jaipur residence around noon. Suddenly, in the midst of their conversation, two of the men stood up and fired indiscriminately at Mr. Gogamedi, leaving him sprawled in a pool of blood on the floor.

Amid the exchange of gunfire, one of the three shooters, identified as Naveen Singh Shekhawat, lost his life. Mr. Gogamedi’s security guard suffered critical injuries during the shooting.

Rohit Godara, affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has asserted responsibility for the murder. The Rajasthan police is considering four potential reasons for this killing: Karni Sena chief

  1. After gangster Ankit Bhadu, associated with the Bishnoi gang, committed multiple murders in Ganganagar, a feud intensified between him and Gogamedi.
    • Bhadu was killed in a 2019 encounter, and suspicions arose that Gogamedi might have disclosed his details. Since then, the Karni Sena chief has been on the Bishnoi gang’s hit list.
  2. Gangster Sampat Nehra, currently held in a Bhatinda jail, had intentions to expand his operations into the Churu area, with Gogamedi being a specific target. The Punjab police shared this intelligence with the Rajasthan police through an informational briefing.
  3. Gangster Anand Pal Singh, killed in a 2017 encounter by Rajasthan police, was reportedly close to Gogamedi. Despite the Karni Sena chief organizing a donation drive in Singh’s name, the funds were allegedly not delivered to Singh’s family.
    • Singh’s daughter, Chinu, accused of involvement in several crimes, has reportedly issued threats to Gogamedi on multiple occasions and is suspected to be connected to his murder.
  4. Chotu Bhatt, formerly a close ally of Gogamedi, is now associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and is believed to be a potential mastermind behind the assault.
  5. The Rajasthan police posits that this incident may be a retaliatory killing, highlighting that Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi had a contentious history. The denial of police security, a request he had been making since 2016, was attributed to his perceived lack of a saintly reputation.

Kawasaki Aircraft initially entered the motorcycle manufacturing scene by acquiring a struggling motorcycle maker named Meguro Manufacturing, with whom they had a previous partnership. This acquisition led to the establishment of Kawasaki Motor Sales. Some early motorcycles from this period even featured an emblem with “Kawasaki Aircraft” on the fuel tank.

In 1962, Kawasaki engineers were working on a four-stroke engine for small cars. These allegations were outlined in a research report by US short-seller Hindenburg Research in January 2023.

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud pronounced the verdict, underscoring the court’s inability to interfere in regulatory affairs. The court asserted that the Adani-Hindenburg Case report cannot serve as the basis for a separate investigation. Instead, it directed the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to proceed with its inquiry in accordance with the law.

Key Highlights of the Adani-Hindenburg Case:

  1. Hindenburg Research‘s report, unveiled in January 2023, made claims of “brazen accounting fraud” and “stock manipulation” by the Gautam Adani-led group.

Previously, such cases were categorized under various sections of the IPC, carrying a two-year penalty. However, the revised Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita has amplified the punishment for hit-and-run offenses to a maximum of ten years. Drivers vehemently oppose this change, asserting that it could be overly punitive for drivers and dissuade people from pursuing truck driving as a career.

The protest poses a potential disruption to supply chains, particularly impacting the availability of petrol and diesel. Chetan Modi, President of the Bombay Petrol Dealers Association, cautioned that smaller dealers with credit limitations and no storage facilities may experience shortages if the strike persists. The Mumbai Petrol Association foresees a 50% impact on the city’s petrol and diesel supply.

Bal Malkhit Singh, Chairman of the core committee of the All India Motor Transport Congress, underscored the existing shortage of truck drivers in India, standing at 27%. He expressed concern that rules like these could exacerbate the challenge and appealed to drivers to maintain patience while urging the government to promptly address the issue.

The truckers’ association clarified that the strike wasn’t officially called by them; instead, drivers organized it independently through various social media platforms. As of now, protesting drivers state that the strike will continue until the 3rd of January.

Following the earthquake, Japan’s Kansai Electric and Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi confirmed that no abnormalities were reported at nuclear plants near the affected areas.

Four bullet trains, which were halted during the quake, trapping nearly 1,400 passengers for about 11 hours, resumed services on Tuesday morning, according to NHK, citing Japan Railways West. The high-speed trains had been stranded between the central cities of Toyama and Kanazawa after the 7.5 magnitude tremor.
