SEVERE ALERT

Cyclone Montha made landfall near Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh on October 28, 2025, with wind speeds of 90-110 kmph. The severe storm claimed three lives while displacing over 50,000 residents.

Cyclone Montha destroyed crops across 38,000 hectares and horticulture plantations spanning 1.38 lakh hectares. Moreover, authorities evacuated residents to 800 relief centers. The National Disaster Response Force deployed 26 specialized teams.

Consequently, railways cancelled 122 trains while airlines grounded 35 flights. Furthermore, Cyclone Montha triggered landslides in Odisha and dam openings in Madhya Pradesh. Climate experts warn rising sea temperatures may increase such severe systems.
